The MJ Show #16 (A Country Christmas)

My second Christmas special is a Country Christmas special!!
I've always loved Country music. There's nothing like Country music to put you in just the mood you want to be. Country music is about stories and songs and stories. Just very "human" music.
This is the first country special I'm hosting here, but I assure you that it won't  be the last :)

So here we go.
The first song I have for you is by a guy I rarely featured on my radio shows. Not because he's not good but because in India...everyone equates him, Kenny Rogers and Shania Twain to country music and I always tried to let people know that there's a LOT more to country music than KR, ST and John Denver.
However, I do have a song by JD to kick things off :)
1st Song - John Denver - Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer #TheMJshow

The second song I have for you is by one of my all time favourite country singers - Brad Paisley!!
Here's his version of Silent Night
2nd Song - Brad Paisley - Silent Night #TheMJshow

Another one of my all time favourite country stars is one of the most successful Country Music stars in the world.
3rd Song - George Strait - Merry Christmas Strait To You #TheMJshow

What I'm doing tonight is picking up my favourite country artists and giving you a Christmas song by them. Here's another great artist and one of my biggest influences.
4th Song - Willie Nelson - Pretty Paper #TheMJshow

Randy Travis is up next. What a voice and what a song this is.
5th Song - Randy Travis - White Christmas Makes Me Blue #TheMJshow

Okay, I can't really keep the guy out can I. Especially when he's with this gal! :)
6th Song - Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton - Winter Wonderland #TheMJshow

One new song before we get back to the older guys? I think Carrie Underwood has a great voice and I think she's a great talent from the American Idol family.
Here's one of her songs.
7th Song - Carrie Underwood - Do You Hear What I Hear? #TheMJshow

Here's another new band. Brilliant band...they've got some great songs. Here they are taking on a Christmas classic. What awesome harmonies they have!
8th Song - Rascal Flatts - I'll Be Home for Christmas #TheMJshow

Another iconic Country star was Johnny Cash.
Here's the man himself with a few of his friends doing a Christmas classic!
9th Song - Johnny Cash & Friends - 12 Days of Christmas #TheMJshow

Okay I'm gonna cheat a little on my last song. The song features one country singer and a man who could pretty much sing the phone book and make it sound great :)

It's also a small preview into my 4th Christmas special...which will be a MASSIVE oldies Christmas special!
My final song for just about my favourite Christmas song ever. This and another one that I'll feature in the Oldies special. Do check it out on the 24th of Dec!
10th Song - Elvis & Martina McBride - Blue Christmas #TheMJshow

Christmas albums you NEED to have this year:
Silver Bells - The Essential Country Christmas Album (A 3CD set put out by @songmusicindia)
Country Christmas Collection (A new Christmas collection out this year, again by @sonymusicindia)

And finally...

The album that features the last song you heard and saw.
One of the awesomest Elvis album put out in a long long time! (Obviously this is an album made after his death. It has his songs in which some younger artists have sung along.)
The album features singers like Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Wynonna Judd, Amy Grant, Anne Murray, Gretchen Wilson and more.

Right then!
Merry Christmas to you all. There's loads more music to come this season on The MJ Show!!!

This is your "Musicman" Mihir and I'll see you again soon...
Take care...and...good night!
