The MJ Show #97 (The Ladies Special)

I used to do these when I was back on air. :)
Called em The Ladies Special :) Basically some great pop songs that were sung by some of finest lady pop singers around.
Here's what we're going to have here. I'm going to have some brilliant young lady singers and some of their latest hit songs for you tonight.

First up from Norah Jones's new album "The Fall" here's the lead single...
1st Song - Norah Jones - Chasing Pirates

And next is the lead single from Corinne Bailey Rae's new album "The Sea"...
2nd Song - Corinne Bailey Rae - I'd Do It All Again

Joss Stone's first album was stunning and her new album's not too bad either. Here it is...a song from her new album "Colour Me Free".
3rd Song - Joss Stone - Free Me

KT Tunstall's last album was "Drastic Fantastic" way back in 2007 but I thought I'd have that here as well because I really liked this song from it.
4th Song - KT Tunstall - Saving My Face

Adele hit it big with her debut album.
The album was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Prize in the category of Best Album. On 3 December 2008, the album spawned four Grammy Award nominations: Best New Artist, and Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Chasing Pavements". And she won two Grammy Awards: Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the single "Chasing Pavements".
Not bad for a first album eh? Not as good as Norah did with her debut album but definitely cool without a doubt.
So here's the big song from her debut and only album "19".
5ht Song - Adele - Chasing Pavements

"It's Not Me, It's You" was Lily Allen's last album and that could actually be a pun. Because it was her last album...and it could be her last album period.
It had some really nice songs in it though. Like this one here...
6th Song - Lily Allen - Not Fair

Leona Lewis was one of Simon Cowell's big finds. Her single "Bleeding Love" from her debut album was a massive bleedin' success :) And her new album "Echo" ain't doing bad either.
Here's a song from that album.
7th Song - Leona Lewis - Happy

Colbie Caillat's second album was called "Breakthrough" and it's lead single "Fallin' for You" did quite well on the charts. Here's the song...
8th Song - Colbie Caillat - Fallin' for You

Taylor Swift is another massive contemporary pop singer.
Her last album, "Fearless", debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums charts. The release sold 592,000 copies in the United States its first week—the largest sum for a country album since Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden in November 2007! Fearless later became the first album to sell one million copies in 2009, and earned the title of top-selling album of 2009. As of February 11, 2010, the album has been certified 6x Platinum by the RIAA, and has sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
The album's lead single, "Love Story," was her first song to achieve commercial success outside of the United States.
Here it is...the big single from "Fearless"...

Madonna's last album was also released in 2008. It was called Hard Candy and it had this big hit:
12th Song - Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland-4 Minutes

Everybody's favourite Fashion wierdo rock-chick is Lady Gaga...and irrespective of how insane she looks, she's had some really catchy tunes...though I DO NOT understand her latest video. AT. ALL.
Have a look in any case :)
13th Song - Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé - Telephone

Fergie's last album was massive for her. The album produced 5 top five singles in the U.S., including three number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, "London Bridge", "Big Girls Don't Cry", and "Glamorous", as well as the number two single "Fergalicious" and the number five single "Clumsy". The album was called "The Dutchess" and here's one of the big hits:
14th Song - Fergie featuring Ludacris - Glamorous

By the way, just an observation, the folks at the Black Eyed Peas love to spell words don't they? :)

I officially HATE this next song :) But I'm going to give it you nevertheless...and yes yes...I know. The womens they loves it!
Here it is...from Beyonce's last album
15th Song - Beyonce - Single ladies

Here are a couple of fun versions of the song:

Full on! I think I just started liking the song. Just a wee bit :) heh

Shakira's last album and it's first single was called "She Wolf". This is another woman I DO NOT get...but she's good to look at...so here it is.
16th Song - Shakira - She Wolf

Rihanna decided to go Rated R with her new album. I mean that. That's the name of her last album...but I'm sure you knew that. Here's one of the hit singles from that album.
17th Song - Rihanna - Rude Boy

Pink's last album was called "Funhouse" and it had "So What", which is considered as Pink's most successful song to date. It is her first to ever reach the top spot in the United States.
18th Song - Pink - So What

Britney had a "Circus" in 2008. Apart from the madness that was her life, that was also the name of her new album. Here's the hit single from that album!
