The MJ Show #23 (Michael Buble - Crazy Love)

The first complete album that is getting reviewed/talked about on The MJ Show is up today!!!
I JUST got the new Michael Buble album - Crazy Love and it is absolutely BRILLIANT!
Why?! I'll give you 13 reasons why!

Michael Buble has always been absolutely brilliant and doing covers and he proves again in this album. I've also loved the few original songs he's done throughout his career. In this album as well, you see a couple of his gems.

Here are some chart facts about the album.
Crazy Love, released in 2009, is Canadian vocalist Michael Bublé's fourth studio album. After only three days of sales, the album opened atop the Billboard 200 chart with 132,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, giving the singer his second No. 1 album. Spending the first full week at the top, the album increased in sales to 203,000 copies, staying again with the number one spot on its second week. The album sold 3,338,000 copies since it's release.

In Australia, the album debuted at No.1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and spent 3 continuous weeks at No.1. It has since spent 12 weeks in the top 10 and is certified 3x platinum.

Enough trivia now...are you ready for the music?
Okay...Here we go.

What I'm going to do is I'm going to give you the same song sung by another artist or if it's a Michael Buble original then I'll give you his version :)

1st Song - Michael Buble - Cry Me A River #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
Now, "Cry Me a River" is a popular American love song song that was written by Arthur Hamilton and first published in 1953.

It was originally written as a jazzy blues ballad for Ella Fitzgerald to sing in the 1920s-set film, Pete Kelly's Blues (released 1955) but the song was dropped there. Fitzgerald first released a recording of the song on Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie! in 1961.

The song's first release and most famous recording was by actress/singer Julie London in 1955. A sultry performance of the song by London in the 1956 film The Girl Can't Help It helped to make it a million-selling blockbuster (#9 US/#22 UK).

Recently, Susan Boyle, the internet/UK/Britain's Got Talent sensation recorded the song for her 2009 debut album "I Dreamed A Dream". I'm going to let you hear, her version of the song.

2nd song - Michael Buble - All Of Me #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
"All of Me" is a popular song and jazz standard written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons in 1931.
It is one of the most recorded standards with versions by Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Frankie Laine, Willie Nelson and many others. Michael Bublé's version in the album is absolutely wonderful but the version I've got for you here is Willie Nelson's version of the song.

3rd song - Michael Buble - Georgia On My Mind #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
This is one of my all time favourite jazz standards!
"Georgia on My Mind" is a song written in 1930 by Hoagy Carmichael (music) and Stuart Gorrell (lyrics).
The song was first recorded on September 15, 1930 in New York by Hoagy Carmichael and His Orchestra with Bix Beiderbecke on muted cornet and Hoagy Carmichael on vocals and since then hundreds and hundreds of singers have sung and recorded this song.
But in my opinion, no one ever sang this song like Ray Charles did.
Ray Charles first recorded the song in 1960 on the album The Genius Hits the Road.
Here's the genius...Mr.Ray Charles...singing the song live...in his own inimitable style!

4th song - Michael Buble - Crazy Love #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
"Crazy Love" is a romantic ballad written by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and included on his 1970 album, Moondance.
One of my favourite singers in the world is Rod Stewart and Rod covered this song in his 2006 album "Still the Same… Great Rock Classics of Our Time".
The album debuted #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making it his fifth Top 5 and second number one debut in three years.
Here he is...doing it only like he can.

5th song - Michael Buble - Haven't Met You Yet #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
Okay then...here's the first official single from the album.
The song has proved success on the adult contemporary charts, being an airplay success, reaching #4, so far. The song entered the UK Singles Chart on the 18th October 2009 at number 9 making it his first top 10 hit in the UK, eventually climbing up to number 5 in its third week.
Michael Buble was one of the co-writers of the song.
Here's the official video of the song :) Enjoy!!!

6th song - Michael Buble - All I Do Is Dream Of You #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
"All I Do Is Dream of You" is a popular song. The music was written by Nacio Herb Brown, the lyrics by Arthur Freed. The song was published in 1934. It was originally written for a 1934 movie, Sadie McKee.
The version I remember most was sung in the Gene Kelly movie "Singin In The Rain" :) You MUST see the movie if you've not already seen it :)
Here's the song from the movie. Don't miss this song. It is SOOOO cute :)

7th song - Michael Buble - Hold On #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
I love this song :) It's the second song on the album that Michael Buble has co-written. Here's a fun live version of the song. He's really funny :) Check out what he has to say before he starts to song :)

8th song - Michael Buble - Heartache Tonight #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
I love that Michael Buble has taken on a song by one of my all time favoutite bands.

The song was song written by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Bob Seger and J. D. Souther, and recorded by the Eagles. The track was included on their album The Long Run and released as a single in 1979. It reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in November of that year. Although it remained in the top position for only one week, the single sold 1 million copies.
The recording also received a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
Here's a version featuring the incredible...Eagles!

9th song - Michael Buble - You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
This song was written by Russ Morgan, Larry Stock, and James Cavanaugh and published in 1944.
The definitive version of the song was by Dean Martin. I have a great video of the song for you. Check him out before he starts singing. You want to know why he was one of the funniest coolest guys in the whole wide world. This clip tells you everything you need to know about the "King Of Cool" :)

10th song - Michael Buble - Baby (You've Got What It Takes) [Duet with Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings) #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
"Baby (You've Got What It Takes)" is a 1960, duet performed by Dinah Washington and Brook Benton. In their first collaboration, the single was very successful on both the pop and R&B charts. "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)" made to the top five on the pop charts, and to number one on the Hot R&B sides chart, for ten weeks, becoming one of the most successful R&B singles of the 1960s.
I'll be honest...I hadn't heard this song before...but when I heard the original which featured Dinah Washington and Brook Benton I could see immediately why Buble would want to cover it.
Awesome song!

11th song - Michael Buble - At This Moment #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
"At This Moment" is a song that was first recorded by Billy Vera & The Beaters in 1981 during a string of performances at the Roxy in West Hollywood (January 15-17) and featured on their self-titled live album, "Billy and the Beaters", released that same year.
The song became a hit though when it was featured on an episode of the NBC sitcom "Family Ties" during the 1985-86 season, where it was the love song associated with Alex P. Keaton (played by Michael J. Fox) and his girlfriend Ellen Reed (played by Tracy Pollan, whom Fox eventually married in real-life) on the show, and this renewed interest in the song.
"At This Moment" began a revived chart run, eventually peaking at #1 on both the Hot 100 and adult contemporary charts in late January 1987. The song also crossed over to the country format, peaking at #42 on the country singles chart.
Here's Billy Vera's version of the song...

12th song - Michael Buble - Stardust (featuring Naturally 7) #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
"Stardust" is an American popular song composed in 1927 by Hoagy Carmichael with lyrics added in 1929 by Mitchell Parish.
This is another one of those songs that has been covered by countless singers over the years.
In my opinion the greatest version of the song was sung by Nat King Cole.
Here it is...

13th song - Michael Buble - Whatever It Takes [With Ron Sexsmith] (Bonus Track on the CD) #CrazyLove #TheMJshow
Ron Sexsmith is a Canadian musician just like Buble. He was a singer songwriter and this song was featured on an album called "Retriever" that he put out in 2004.
On the back cover of "Crazy Love", Michael Buble says "I loved this one so much that I sneaked it onto the CD as a little bonus for you!"
Here's the 2004, Ron Sexsmith version of the song...

And that's a wrap folks.
You just heard 11 songs by some brilliant singers and 2 by Michael Buble...but all these songs have been sung by Michael in his fabulous new CD Crazy Love.

I totally recommend it! Go pick it up!!
